Leeds’ street food go-to to open in Liverpool later this month

Securing a spot on Bold Street,Liverpool’s most popular dining destination, is no mean feat, but award-winning Indian street food and craft beer restaurant Bundobust managed to find a vacancy and is opening this month.

We’re really looking forward to making a host of new punters smile when we open up on Bold Street

The Liverpool venue will be the third for co-founders Marko Husak and Mayur Patel, who set up their original Leeds operation in the summer of 2014 following a number of well received kitchen takeovers and pop-ups in and around the Yorkshire city. They opened Manchester’s Piccadilly-located basement venue in December 2016 and will open in Liverpool at 5pm on Friday 24 May.

“We have been working long and hard to get this Liverpool venue ready to roll, and we’re finally there,” says Marko. “Liverpool is such a friendly city. We’ve already been made to feel very welcome at our sell-out collaboration with our neighbours Maray and the pop-up events we did at The Merchant. We’re really looking forward to making a host of new punters smile when we open up on Bold Street.”

The first floor Liverpool site is 4,000 sq ft and, following a long spell reworking and remodelling the interior, it will share the same eye-catching colourful décor familiar to its fanbase in Leeds and Manchester. Similarly, the menu will feature Bundobust’s signature vegetarian take on authentic Indian street food classics such as the chickpea-based Bundo Chaat, Vada Pav potato burger and Okra Fries.

Bundobust is ideal for an ‘order the whole menu’ big feast, a quick lunch, or even for grabbing a few bar snacks to accompany the local and international craft beers pouring across twelve keg and two cask lines.

To celebrate the launch, two local small-batch breweries – Maghull-based Neptune and Black Lodge in the Baltic Triangle – have created limited-edition beers inspired by the food-friendly Bundobust concept, which will be poured especially on Friday 24 May.
